• Total darkness. With zero ambient light the body vanishes entirely; shoot in the half hour after sunset or add the rim.
• Dirt transfer. Pumpkin exteriors are damp and dirty; wipe hands before they meet the costume.
• One attempt. The light changes by the minute at dusk; reshoot the best pose every five minutes.
