Why not the week before the wedding: a spray tan is still settling or patchy, skin is stressed, and every hour competes with final fittings and family logistics. Six to eight weeks out is the professional consensus for practical reasons, not aesthetic ones.
What to bring, bridal edition

- His shirt or your morning robe. The items you will actually wear on the day; they tie the session to the wedding without a single prop more.

Plan a shootThe gift question: album, print, or gallery
- The layflat album. 8x8 or 10x10, 10 to 15 images, linen or leather cover. The classic format, and the reason the four-week ordering deadline exists: production and shipping take about three weeks, and rush fees buy anxiety, not quality.
- The single framed print. One image, revealed alone. Often the stronger gift for partners who will never open a book twice but will look at one photograph every day.
- The password-protected gallery. Fastest and least permanent. Ask how long the link stays live and whether downloads are enabled before you count on it.
Whatever the format, confirm the delivery date in writing at booking, not at the shoot. "I'll get the album ordered after the wedding" is the most common bridal boudoir failure there is.
The shoot day arc
- Start covered. Robe and slip looks first, exactly as in any boudoir session; save the veil set for last, when you are relaxed and the photographer knows your angles.
- Hair down and touchable. Formal updos photograph as costume in a boudoir setting. Soft waves read as bridal.
- Jewelry off between sets. Necklaces leave pressure marks that take twenty minutes to fade on camera.
- Water and food in the room. Sessions run two to three hours, and nerves burn through blood sugar faster than a normal morning does.

What goes wrong
- Ordering the album after the wedding. The couple is traveling; the gift surfaces in November as an apology.
- Spray tan the night before. It transfers to fabric and photographs uneven under side light. Book it several days out.
- Dress damage. Makeup on tulle, a wine glass at the studio, wet grass outdoors. This is why the slip dress exists.
- Cloud-share surprises. Auto-forwarded gallery links have ended engagements-calm. Turn off auto-share and decide, in advance, who ever sees these images.
- Jewelry marks and sock lines. Both fade, both waste shooting time. Empty the room of tight elastic before the session starts.
Privacy, in writing
A bridal session is intimate by definition, so the consent terms should be explicit rather than assumed: what the photographer may use in their portfolio (often nothing, or faceless crops only, at your choice), how long files are retained, and how delivery happens.
