An Etsy shop owner photograph identifies the person behind the business. A shop logo represents the brand, while listing photographs represent the products being sold. Decide which asset needs work before buying a portrait package during a shop refresh.
Etsy's current help pages give the personal profile image its own upload guidance and list separate shop branding and listing-image requirements.12 Do not apply a broad site-wide file list to every field or assume one portrait provides every shop asset.
We publish MyPhotoAI. Official Etsy documentation was checked October 19, 2026. We did not upload a shop image or measure changes in search placement, orders or buyer confidence.
Write separate asset briefs
| Asset | Published guidance checked | What the image should represent |
|---|---|---|
| Personal profile photo | At least 400 by 400 pixels, under 10 MB | The intended person identity |
| Shop logo | 500 by 500 pixels recommended | The approved shop mark |
| Big shop banner | Minimum 1200 by 300; 1600 by 400 recommended | A wider shop composition |
| Product listing images | Their own listing-photo instructions | The actual item and accurately described offering |
The personal-profile article lists JPG, PNG and GIF for that field.1 Its narrower list is more relevant to the profile upload than the separate general shop-image article. Confirm the current uploader before export.
Prepare an opaque square source
Etsy's profile guidance calls for a square original to avoid distortion.1 Start with the larger source and make a deliberate square crop. Keep the person recognizable rather than squeezing a full-body scene into a tiny face image.
The general image guide says animated GIFs and transparent PNGs are unsupported, with transparent areas appearing black.2 If another tool gives you a face already cut into a transparent circle, prepare a suitable opaque square version in an editor before relying on it here.
That is file preparation, not necessarily a reason to buy new portraits. Keep the original so you can prepare different destination copies without repeatedly enlarging a small thumbnail.
Keep the owner image separate from product evidence
A generated portrait of the owner cannot document how an item was made or what a particular buyer will receive. Arrange the appropriate real product or workplace photography when that is the actual missing material.
Similarly, do not assume a portrait generator will accurately reproduce a shop name, precise logo, product packaging or visible lettering. Use approved brand artwork in the final layout and review its rights and wording separately.
If your intended identity is a shop mark rather than a personal face, commission or adapt that mark. The portrait and logo can work together without pretending they are the same image or purchase.
Choose the smallest complete purchase
Try a current suitable photograph in the square crop first. Choose an edit when the main image already represents you and only a limited correction is needed. A new real or generated portrait is more relevant when the source itself needs replacing.
For a generated candidate, compare facial details with a recent real photograph before reviewing clothing and background. Use the likeness rubric and crop guide before final selection.
MyPhotoAI's current US Starter offer includes 3 HD photos for US$5. Plus includes 10 for US$10; Everything includes all photos from one shoot for US$10.3 Personalized generation starts after payment. There is no subscription in that offer, and another shoot requires another purchase.
That is a portrait allowance, not a logo commission, product session or complete shop-banner design. Generation can take over an hour. Download the Etsy shop-image brief and budget each actual missing asset separately.
